St. Scholastica Academy volleyball team members helped participants at an annual summer camp. Area children learned and developed volleyball skills such as blocking, spiking, serving and hitting. Each ends with a volleyball scrimmage for the parents to observe. This year’s Bulldogs’ jamboree named for Coach Brauner

The Rusty Brauner Jamboree was held Friday night under the lights at the Fontainebleau Dawg Pound featuring St. Paul’s vs. Archbishop Rummel and FHS going against Brother Martin. FHS head football coach Mike Materne said the school would recognize someone each year by naming the jamboree in their honor. This year’s jamboree was named in recognition of Brauner, a longtime FHS American History teacher (16 years), who was named FHS “Teacher of the Year” in 2002-2003. He was the successful girls soccer coach (13 years), and is now retired.

Four parish teams taking part in Salmen jamboree

Fans on the eastside of the parish can see four of their teams play in one location as Salmen hosts a jamboree tonight with two games on tap as a prelude to the opening of the 2010 campaign. Kickoff for the first contest begins at 6 p.m. and the games consist of a pair of 15-minute halves.

The Pope John Paul II Jaguars and Lakeshore Titans are heading to the Crescent City to face each other at 6 p.m. in the first game of the Newman Jamboree, a final tune-up before the regular season begins next Friday for both clubs. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the teams are playing a pair of 15-minute halves.
