Slidell’s ‘Mixed Media 2012’ winners announced

The City of Slidell and Mayor Freddy Drennan announced the Mixed Media 2012 winners who were honored during the exhibit’s opening reception on Friday, Jan. 13, in the Slidell Cultural Center at City Hall.

Westchester Garden Cub

The Westchester Estates Garden held its annual “White elephant’ sale, which is one of it yearly fund raisers, at its January meeting. Hostesses were Ginger Meyer and Liz McHugh. Frances Blanchard served as auctioneer. The club’s February meeting will be held at the home of Karen Porter, and it will be co-hosted by Margaret Tingle. A speaker from the Garden Spot Nursery will be there to share information about container gardening.  Above are Myrna Ruffin, Carol Crock, Penny Crawford, Sally Arnold and Frances Blanchard. Le Cotillion of Slidell holds 2012 celebration

In a spectacular presentation, Le Cotillion of Slidell created an elegant ceremony organized with style, tradition to introduce seven young ladies and their escorts to society. Most of the participants were returning from their first year of college, enthused by new challenges and a multitude of new friends. The debutantes are the daughters, granddaughters or nieces of Le Cotillion members. Escorts for the ball are also family members of college age. A staged presentation of each debutante commenced with a formal curtsey and a promenade.
