SAVOY

Lillie Koegl Savoy, 92, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, while surrounded by her family praying the Rosary.

She was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd D. Savoy for 43 years; loving mother of Paul Daniel Savoy and wife JoNel, John Hilaire Savoy and wife Patricia and Mary Savoy Smith and husband Lee; grandmother of Eric Savoy, Mark Savoy, Joshua Smith, Suzanne Smith Lynch, Claudette Savoy, Laurie Savoy Jones and great-grandmother of Lily Smith, Bella Smith, Joshua Savoy and Michael Savoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Koegl and Berta Huber Koegl; her brothers, Burt Koegl, Max Koegl, Frank Koegl, and her sister Bertha Koegl.

SAVOY

Lillie was born in Dallas, graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing and worked at Gaston Episcopal Hospital in Dallas until she and Lloyd were married and moved to Louisiana in 1946. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Berwick; Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City; Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell and St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Metairie.

Lillie was very active throughout her life, with her children, in her church and in her community. She held many offices and memberships, including membership in the RN Club, Eucharistic Minister and Holy Cross Band Treasurer in Morgan City. In Slidell, she was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and the Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society President for eight years.

Her most cherished honor was receiving the Order of St. Louis Conferral in the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass of Christian burial at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd., West, Slidell. Visitation will be from noon until service time. The Rosary will be prayed during the visitation, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Lillie will be laid to rest beside her husband in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.
