Playmakers recognizes this season’s casts, crews

Playmakers held its annual Alvin Awards and annual members meeting, Aug. 14. Frank Levy served as MC with Missie Arato Noel as his Vanna White.

The following rewards were received:

For “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf,” directed by Mark Leonard, Paula Leffmann was selected as Leonard’s Favorite Performer. His Directors Award went to Chrysta Lemoine, John and Debbie Carambat for “Set, Mike & Oliver Sibley for Lights.”

Frank Levy, who directed “On Golden Pond,” presented his Favorite Performer, Ladson Poole.

For “Sylvia,” directed by Kay Files, stage manager Melanie Hayno was selected as Favorite Performer. A special word to accessorizing was given to Jane McNulty for her red purse.

Earl Miley was chosen as Favorite Performer and received the Director’s Award for “Over the River and Through the Woods,” directed by Anne Pourciau.

“Cats,” directed by Lynn and Randy Perkins. The Perkins’ said the entire cast was their Favorite Performers. Directors Awards went to Melanie Aymami for set design, Bob Coates for set construction, Malory and Tara Hines for stage Mmanager, Mark Leonard for lights, Ashley Osblorne for makeup, Elaine DeSmith for costume mistress, Kathy Zenor and Dion Yager for prop procurment, Gina Bennett, Meta Fairburn, Paul Guerin and Misty Nebeker for choreography and Ellen O’Connell and Bob Coates for fundraising.

Jane McNulty received Best Supporting Actress for “Sylvia.”

Stephen Dale received Best Supporting Actor for “Cats.”

Leading Actress was Wendy Schneider, “Sylvia.”

Leading Actor was Chris Newhouse, “Cats.”

Best Show of the Season Award went to “Cats.”

Best Poster went to John Carambat for “Sylvia.”

Best Set Design went to Melanie Aymami for “Cats.”

Best Costumes went to Ashley Osbourn for makeup and Elaine Smith for costume mistress for “Cats.”

Best Lighting Design went to Mark Leonard for “Cats.”

Best Sound Design goes to Carson Cromarty for “Sylvia.”

The Presidents Award, which is chosen for service beyond the call, went to Bob Coates.

The evening’s entertainment was provided by Robin and Tuck form Robin Hood, Amanda Yater singing “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from “Grease,” “Magical Mister Mistoffelees” from “Cats,” and members of “Cats” sang “Seasons of Love” from the upcoming musical “Rent.”

The new board for the 2010-11 season is as follows: Lynn Perkins, president; Kay Files, vice president; Donna Heier, treasurer; and Elizabeth Williams, secretary. Other board members are Ellen O’Connell, Randy Perkins, Malcolm Maginnis, Frank Levy, Ronnie Pogue, Jeanette Ketry, Ken Richard, Joy Thompson, Mark Leonard, Kenneth Faherty and Melanie Aymami.
