Frank E. Rito, 81, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2010, at his home. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by Gerry, loving wife of 57 years; his children, Lynn Rito Hoffman of Slidell, Alan of Slidell, Mark of New Iberia and Daryl of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; and his sister, Dolores R. Wilkenson of Newburg, N.Y. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a native of New York and moved to Louisiana in 1959. He had a 40-year career with the U.S. Navy, retiring with the Naval Reserve in 1989. Also, he had a successful insurance agency in Slidell and was actively affiliated with numerous industry organizations.

An active member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lacombe, he served in various groups. He was Knights of Columbus Knight of the Year in 2010 and the received the J.C. award in 2007. He was a long time member of the Sons of Italy, serving in various offices and assisting with charitable events.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at noon Monday at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61051 Brier Lake Blvd., Lacombe. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to noon. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.
