They say that three times is a charm, and for the Slidell Police Department it was true as they nabbed two alleged tire thieves who were on their third burglary at the same tire store.

Early Saturday morning, the burglar alarm went off at the Tire Town store on Old Spanish Trail. The store had been burglarized Aug. 17 and 20 and police officers raced over to the business. When they got there, they saw a rental truck pulling out of the store’s parking lot heading to Interstate 10. Police stopped the truck, opened the rear of the truck and discovered about 30 used tires. The police then arrested the driver, Anthony M. Watts, 22, and his passenger, Maximillian D. Brown, 23, both of New Orleans.

When officers looked at video surveillance tape, the two suspects were seen at the previous burglaries. Watts and Brown were each charged with three counts of unauthorized entry in a business, possession of stolen property, and failure to appear in Slidell City Court. Watts was also charged with driving under suspension and Watts was charged with probation violation.

The Tire Town manager was called, and he estimated the stolen tires were worth about $350, and that the two men had allegedly stolen over $900 worth of tires in the first two burglaries.

Slidell police said the two men allegedly climbed the fence behind the store, then threw the tires over the fence, loaded them into the truck.

" This is what happens in society when the economy fails. Astronots, and brain sturgeouns have to suppliment thier incomes by stealing used tires. I suppose we will be seeing this on a future episode of law and order. Arrested for steeling used tires, common, I bet tire town was paying them to haul them off and they forgot thier key to the gate, and the manager forgot he hired them. This was a good scam, I mean after all who could not use a few worn out tires, I hope they don't go to jail for this. "
