Slidell police said Friday that they have arrested an associate minister of a local church for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a 15-year-old girl.

Slidell police spokesman, Capt. Kevin Swann, said Lawrence Brown, was arrested Wednesday on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile and soliciting for prostitution.

Swann said police got a complaint July 20 that Brown had committed improper actions. During the investigation, police discovered that Brown had moved to an undisclosed address in Slidell from Lacombe and had made contact with the girl. Swann said that Brown solicited sex acts from the teen, but she turned him down.

Police did not release Brown’s age, or Slidell address. Swann did say Brown was an associate minister but would not name the church.

Brown is in the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

Swann said police would like to know if Brown made any other “negative” contact with others in town. If anybody has any information, they can call either 646-4374 or 646-3131.
