The Castine Center was turned into the Museum of Natural History straight out of the movie Night out of the Museum, complete with night guard, Larry, and his trusty flashlight, as the Junior League of Greater Covington hosted its third annual fundraising gala to benefit the Children’s Museum.

Guests were greeted with an actual display from the New Orleans Geological Society and the University of New Orleans Department of Geology and actors portray some of the roles from the movie including Sacagawea and Louis and Clark and the cavemen.

The event included elaborate desserts prepared by Zoe’s bakery, music by Four Unplugged and the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra’s Northshore Philharmonia. The event also included silent and live auctions lead by auctioneers Margaret Orr, Jim Henderson and Rich Mauti as well as two destination raffles, a diamond dig and food and beverages from many local vendors.

Special guest was Tracy Porter, cornerback for the New Orleans Saints.
