Cabbages, shamrock beads and all things Irish flew off the floats Sunday afternoon, as Slidell residents flocked to Olde Towne to take part in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Sponsored by the Olde Towne Slidell Association, the green-covered floats along with marching bands, cars and many Celtic merry makers trooped through Olde Towne in great spirits.

Queen Dawn Brackett-Sharpe reigned of the 2010 parade tossing out beads in the the shape of shamrocks, while other float riders also tossed out the traditional cabbages, potatoes and carrots so spectators could make a good Irish stew after the festivities.

Aye and beggorah, it was a fine time for all as the weather cooperated and everybody in Slidell could pretend to be Irish for a day.
