Northshore blanks SSA

Northshore’s Lady Panthers shutout St. Scholastica Academy 9-0 in a district home game held Thursday. Northshore (10-2-1) is 3-1 in district.

Kristin Gekler, the winning pitcher, tossed a three hitter with six striksouts.

Ashley Subervielle collected two hits, including a double and two runs batted in. Haylee Lanzas had a hit and drove in three, while Kaitlin Simmons went 2-2. Chelsea Nette tallied two hits with a double and an RBI. Gekler along with Carley Short had one hit each and Kayla Panks doubled.

St. Scholastica’s Kristen McDaniel led the Doves with a double and triple. Amanda Krause accounted for the Doves’ other hit.

Slidell holds off Ponchatoula

Slidell’s Melody Carter went 3-4 with a double, helping her team edge the Ponchatoula Lady Wave 4-3 in a district road game held Thursday. Slidell (9-5-1) is 3-1 in district.

Slidell took a 2-0 lead in the third, but Ponchatoula tallied three runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 3-2. Slidell put up two in the fifth and never looked back.

The Lady Wave had the potential tying run on second base in the seventh, but was unable to tally.

Ali Jung totaled two hits, including a double.

Breanne Rainey (8-2-1), the winning pitcher struck out three batters.
