Hannan blanks West Feliciana

Archbishop Hannan’s Maddi Shelton pitched a complete-game four-hitter Tuesday at home leading the Lady Hawks to a 3-0 home victory over West Feliciana. Shelton (5-1) posted 10 strikeouts, while walking two. Hannan upped its record to 11-1 heading into yesterday’s scheduled game with Fisher. Hannan’s Kim Nilsson went 2-3 with two triples, scored two runs and drove in a run. Kim Kirsch also collected two hits in three at bates with a triple in the fifth and drove in two runs. Brooke Laigast produced a hit and scored a run for the Lady Hawks. Hannan was limited to five hits, but tallied two runs in the bottom of the first and tacked on its final run in the fifth.

Slidell cruises past SSA

Slidell’s Ellie Gounslin went 3-4 with two doubles and two runs batted in during an 11-2 victory over St. Scholastica Academy at home Tuesday. Slidell (8-5-1) was 2-1 in district at press time.

Brittany Warren posted two hits, including a triple and three RBIs.

Breanne Rainey (7-2-1), the winning pitcher, struck out nine.

Kristi Harrison led the Doves, going 2-3. Kristen McDaniel suffered the loss.

PJP II blanked

by Springfield

Pope John Paul II’s Lady Jaguars suffered a 2-0 loss against the Springfield Lady Bulldogs in the district opener held Tuesday at PJP. The Lady Jags were 7-5 at press time.

Pope John Paul II pitcher Laura Ricciardone, the losing pitcher, tossed a complete game, allowing no earned runs on one hit with 14 strikeouts. Ricciardone had the Lady Jaguars only hit and she walked.

The squads combined for two runs on two hits and the Lady Jaguars made two errors.

Salmen goes 1-2 in NCS tourney

Salmen finished 1-2 in the Northlake Christian Tournament last weekend.

They defeated Pine 4-3, lost to Northlake Christian School 6-2 and fell against Franklinton 11-2.

For the tournament, Lani Miller had three hits, Caitlyn Paquet and Erika Ybarzabal tallied two apiece.
