Slidell police said Friday they arrested a New Orleans man who allegedly stole more that $1,900 worth of baby formula from the two Wal-Marts in Slidell, and they are still searching for his female accomplice.

Police spokesman, Capt. Kevin Foltz said that Dwayne A. Robinson, 36, 9322 Belfast St., New Orleans and his girlfriend allegedly stole the baby formula in three different trips to the Wal-Mart stores March 2, 9-10.

In the March 2 theft, Robinson and his girlfriend allegedly walked away with $200 of Emfamil Baby Formula for the Northshore Boulevard store around 11 a.m. The couple was again seen March 9 at the Natchez Street store, and were caught on video walking away with $1,000 of the baby formula. Finally, the two went back to the Natchez Street store March 10 and got away with $750 worth of the baby formula. They were seen driving away in a gold 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Friday morning, a Slidell police officer spotted the car on Gause Boulevard, with only Robinson in the vehicle. Other units were called in and after a short chase, the car was stopped near Interstate 12, where Robinson was arrested and charges with two counts of theft. Foltz said Robinson and his girlfriend were taking the stolen baby formula back to New Orleans and selling it for $75 bucks a case. Enfamil is listed as $171 a case. Foltz said the police do not think they will recover any of the stolen baby formula.

Robinson also has a long criminal record, according to Foltz, who said Robinson has been arrested in New Orleans on various theft, drug and resisting arrest charges. Foltz said Robinson is known to be very hostile with police.

Foltz said the police have identified Robinson’s companion and have issued a warrant for her arrest.

Foltz said that if anyone has any information on Robinson’s female accomplice, they should call either Detective Daniel Seuzeneau at 768-7421 or e-mail him at dzeuzeneau@ slidellpd.com. People can also call CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-7867.
