Dirk Johannes Egge, 72, departed this life Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at his residence in Pearl River after a courageous battle with cancer. Dirk was born in Utrecht, Holland, to the late Wilhemina Lepair and Wilhelm Egge. He was a marine engineer by trade. Dirk sailed all over the world for Chevron for many years.

Dirk emigrated to the United States in 1979 and became a marine surveyor and consultant. At the time of his death, he was employed as a marine consultant by Linea Peninsula in Panama City, Fla. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His zest for life and humor will be deeply missed by many of us.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elisabeth Egge; daughter Angelique Daigle and son in law Neal Daigle, daughter Monique Stiegler and son in law Scott Stiegler; and son, Jeroen Egge. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Nicole Dodd, Christopher Dodd, Zachary Stiegler, Grant Stiegler and Leo Egge; and one great grandchild, Emmalyn Rupe.
