Authorities with Louisiana State Police Troop L said that a Meraux man died Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with an 18-wheel truck on Interstate 10 near the Gause Boulevard exit in Slidell.

Troop L spokesman Trooper Nick Manale said that Rickey P. Prince-Bouton, 50, Meraux, was going east in the left lane of I-10 on his 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the accident occurred.

As Prince-Bouton approached the I-10 exit, he veered into the right lane in front of an International 18-wheel semi driven by Marvin Schwartz, 54 of Indiana. The truck hit the motorcycle, and Prince-Bouton was thrown from his bike. He landed in the right lane and the truck’s trailer ran over Prince-Bouton.

Officials with the St. Tammany Coroner’s Office pronounced Prince-Bouton dead at the scene of the accident.

Manale said that Prince-Bouton was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Police do not suspect alcohol as a factor in the fatality, but Manale said the coroner’s office would perform a toxicology test.

Schwartz was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured in the accident, Manale said.

The Slidell Police Department administered a chemical breath test on Schwertz, which showed he had no alcohol in his system.
