New Orleans in Plein Air artist Phil Sandusky will give a live portrait demonstration as well as a slide showing of his work and a book signing Friday night from 7-9 p.m. at the St. Tammany Art Association Art House at 320 N. Columbia St. in Covington.

The artist and New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts instructor said he never works from photographs. All of his artwork is done live at the scene. At his second presentation on the Northshore and the first in Covington, he will speak about his experiences and painting en plein art.

The fee for the presentation is $25. After the presentation, Sandusky will hold a book signing for his three books, “New Orleans en Plein Air,” “Painting Katrina,” and “Jacksonville Through a Painter’s Eyes.” The books will also be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the art association.
