If legislation proposed by state Sen. A.G. Crowe becomes law, all the members of the Who Dat Nation will have a chance to adorn their cars and trucks with Who Dat license plates.

He will introduce a bill at the April session of the Legislature to allow for the production of official license plates with the phrase “Who Dat Nation.”

“This is a great way for Saints fans to express their appreciation for the New Orleans Sains and what they mean to the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana,” Crowe said.

Besides the Who Dat Nation, Crowe said the plates would include “one of the more popular state flowers,” the fleur-de-lis and the state seal. Of course, it will take awhile before the Legislature approves of the design and that it does not infringe on any copyright laws.

If the design for the plates is approved and they go on sale, they will cost $60 and will be good for two years, Crowe said.

But the money will be put to good use according to Crowe’s bill. He calls it “a pot of black and gold for someone.” For every plate sold, $50 will go to some cause or purpose decided by the Legislature. Crowe believes that fans all over the state and the country will want to order the special plates. Crowe believes that thousands of plates could be bought and that could bring in a lot of money for a good cause.

“If 20,000 plates are sold, over $1 million will be raised for a worthy cause,” Crowe said.

The senator said he will talk with the Saints organization and his colleagues in the Legislature to decide on who will get the “pot of black and gold.”
