Saints win the Super Bowl The New Orleans Saints topped off a successful season with a Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night. Car horns blared, fireworks were shot off and people were seen running and screaming in the streets of St. Tammany as residents reacted when the Saints topped the Colts 31-17 in the 43-year-old franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance. Lines formed instantly at several sports apparel outlets around the parish, local school children were allowed to wear black and gold to school and several local businesses and some government offices closed Monday as Louisiana celebrated a holiday in honor of the Super Bowl victory. Check in the Friday issue of the St. Tammany News for more in-depth coverage of St. Tammany’s reaction to the big win. |
