The Pearl River Lions Club will hold its annual parade Sunday at 1:15 p.m.

The parade will follow its traditional route, starting at Pearl River High School and traveling south on Louisiana Highway 41 to U.S. Highway 11 where it will proceed to La. 41 Spur and back to U.S. 11. It will disband at Pearl River Town Hall.

This parade is truly a community event with members of the community participating in floats, trucks and trailers, horse groups or golf carts; but it is also serves as a fund-raiser.

Kim Johnsen will serve as grand marshal of this year’s Pearl River Lions Club parade.

Participants were required to make a $25 donation to the Lions Club, and the money raised will be donated to the Lions Children’s Camp in Leesville.

This year’s theme is “The year that was.”

Parade Director Tim Karl is encouraging participates to decorate floats according to things that happened in the past.

The grand marshal every year is the Lion’s Club’s Citizen of the Year. This year that is Kim Johnsen, who dedicates much of her time to volunteering in the local schools.
