An alleged yearlong theft of lottery and scratch off tickets from a local gas station in Covington totaled $182,000.
Covington Police Department spokesman Capt. Jack West said the Street Crimes Unit concluded a month-long investigation of the systematic theft. They worked with the Louisiana Lottery Commission in what West termed, “A very complicated forensic accounting case.”
Thousands of pages of documents were examined before warrants could be obtained.
Arrested and charged with felony theft for the crime was Abderazek Dziri, 32, 311 E. Magee St., Covington. Dziri allegedly stole the lottery and scratch-off tickets from Discount Zone, 810 Collins Blvd.
