Interim Mayor Edward “Bubby” Lyons presented Edgerson with a proclamation thanking Edgerson for his service and naming Dec. 11, 2009 as The Rev. Leo Edgerson day in the city.
The 83-year-old was born in New Orleans and spent four years in the U.S. Army, during which time served in the Philippians during World War II. He moved to Mandeville, where he met his wife Julia, and worked for many years as a carpenter.

He helped to organize the Samaritan Center and was appointed to serve on the city’s Civil Service Board when it was formed in 1982.
The proclamation acknowledges that Edgerson has worked faithfully in all of the positions he has served in his life.
Attending the council meeting, where the proclamation was presented were several of Edgerson’s children and grandchildren.
