A Slidell man turned himself into police Tuesday after he learned there was an outstanding warrant on him for voyeurism.

Police wanted Aaron P. Morphis, 26, 2003 Oriole Drive, Slidell after an Oct. 7 incident, where he allegedly hid in an attic and spied on a woman taking a shower.

According to Slidell police, a Bogalusa woman, whose name and address was not released by police, was visiting her grandmother in Slidell. As she was taking a shower, she noticed she was being watched. She told police she could see a pair of eyes and the attic light through a gap between the bathroom’s ceiling and the shower vent.

The woman quickly wrapped a towel around herself, and as she left the bathroom, saw Morphis allegedly coming out of the attic. The woman confronted Morphis about his behavior. The woman said Morphis apologized and stated to leave, but not before the victim’s grandmother confronted Morphis before he left the house. Slidell police spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz said the grandmother then called the police who came to her house. Both the victim and her grandmother suspect that Morphis had been spying on the victim for several months, but they could not prove it.

Foltz said that to protect the identity of the victim, police would not release any information on how Morphis and the victim knew each other.

After Morphis turned himself in, he was booked in the Slidell jail, and released on a $1,000 surety bond.
