Alcohol is suspected in a two-car collision on Louisiana Highway 25 Sunday night that killed a Folsom man and Franklinton woman.

Sgt. Louis Calato, Louisiana State Police spokesman, said the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday just north of Louisiana Highway 1077.

Travis Jenkins, 36, was traveling south on La. 25 in his 2001 Mitsubishi, when, for an unknown reason, he went off the roadway to the right. At the same time, a 2006 Nissan Altima, driven by Victoria Burton, 44, was going north on La. 25. Jenkins’ car came back onto the roadway, but now it was spinning counter-clockwise. Jenkins’ car crossed the centerline and smashed into Burton’s car head-on.

Both were pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Tammany Coroner’s Office, Calato said. Police believe Jenkins had been drinking, which may be the cause of the accident. Burton is not suspected of having alcohol, but blood samples from both people were sent for analysis, Calato said. Burton was wearing her seatbelt, but Jenkins did not.

" I am so sorry to hear about Travis. I am the lady that cared for him when Louie was killed and we have spoken on the phone a couple of times. His motorcycle is at my house and i need a family member to please contact me and let me know what to do. My heart breaks for his family and my prayers are with you. "
