Slidell ceremony to honor
9/11 first responders

The Slidell 9/11 Memorial Committee and the city of Slidell are sponsoring a Patriot Day ceremony this Friday at 6 p.m. at the 9/11 Memorial in Heritage Park.

The ceremony will be a remembrance of all the first responders and others who died in the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will include speeches by Mayor Ben Morris, City Councilwoman-at-large Kim Harbison, Chief Larry Hess of Fire District One and members of the Slidell Police Department.

The 9/11 Memorial in Heritage Park on Bayou Lane has a piece of a girder of one of the World Trade Center buildings that was destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001.
