Mandeville Albertson’s to donate portion of opening day profit

Ten percent of the Tuesday evening’s gross proceeds at the new Albertson’s at 3450 U. S. Highway 190 in Mandeville benefited the St. Tammany Parish Humane Society and participants in the Albertson’s Community Partners program as the store hosted a special shopping event in honor of their grand opening.

The official store opening was Wednesday at 6 a.m. and specials have been attracting shoppers to the store daily. Until Sept. 8, each customer that spends $25 or more in qualified purchases can enter to win one of seven 32-inch HD TVs as part of an in-store sweepstakes.

The store offers a full-service food and drug stores along with other special amenities for consumers.

The new Albertson’s grocery on Louisiana Highway 22 in Mandeville opened with fanfare and a ribbon cutting Monday. Along with Pontchartrain Vineyards local wines, the store offers over 1,800 wine and liquor items and 350 different beers. The store also offers a full service salad and sandwich bar. The bakery has cake with fondant icing as well as Doberge cakes in chocolate and lemon and half-and-half.

In addition, William Emmons, president of the Dallas-Fort Worth Division of Albertsons LLC, said, “We’re thrilled to partner with CC’s Community Coffee House in Mandeville.” Committed to running quality stores in the state for 36 years, he said, “We’re pleased that the strategic decisions that we have made over the last two tears have put us in a position to open a new store at such a difficult time, given the state of the economy.”

The privately owned company operates over 240 stores in seven states.
