Northshore downs Pope John Paul II

Northshore’s Lady Panthers defeated the Pope John Paul II Lady Jaguars 25-23, 25-7, 25-21, in NHS’ opener held Wednesday at Northshore. PJP is 1-1.

Northshore’s Blair Doiron finished with 26 assists and five digs, while Tori Hearn tallied 12 kills, seven digs and two aces. Alexa Hardy had 10 kills and four blocks. Sierra Bickham added five kills and four digs, while Kristy Meyer posted three kills and two digs.

Pope John Paul II’s Paige Bourquard had 10 kills, four digs and three aces. Jessica Gros passed for 15 assists and Taylor Copeland blocked three shots.

Mandeville tops Sacred Heart

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers topped the Academy of Sacred Heart Wednesday 25-12, 24-26, 25-9, 25-23 behind the strong hitting of sophomore Katie Lindelow, who polished off 24 kills and 12 digs. Lindelow also fashioned four aces.

Nichole Freeman topped the Lady Skippers with 12 assists, while Hannah Campbell pulled up 18 digs.

MHS coach Christy Sanantonio said she was pleased with her team’s tough serving, but felt her club needs to stay consistent throughout the duration of matches.

MHS improved to 1-1 and hosts Mount Carmel Academy on Wednesday.

NCS tops

Country Day

Northlake Christian School’s Lady Wolverines made a valiant comeback Wednesday at home after dropping the first two games to defeat Country Day 18-25, 11-25, 25-16, 25-23, 15-12 to gain first-year head coach Rowland Skinner’s initial victory.

NCS senior Monica Raymond turned in a solid performance spanking 15 kills with 12 digs. Hannah Miranda was also on her game contributing 28 assists, nine digs and six kills to help spark the Lady Wolverines’ attack. Mary Wilson distributed 11 assists and served three aces.

Angela Barrios collected seven kills and Molly Boyer chipped in with five. Emily Miller registered nine digs and Allie McLain added eight.

Slidell falls

to Chalmette

Slidell’s Lady Tigers began their season by suffering a 25-22, 13-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-6 setback against the Chalmette Lady Owls on the road Tuesday.

Quinci Hayward led the way with 19 kills and five blocks, while Hannah Gambrell posted 10 kills and four blocks. Breanne Rainey tallied 18 digs and Whitney Campbell finished with 13. Sarah Tate passed for 18 assists and Cameron Lowe totaled five aces.

Lady Tigers’ coach Nancy Plaisance said her team made too many unforced errors and they have a long way to go.

Pearl River edges Ponchatoula

Pearl River’s Lady Rebels opened the season by sweeping Ponchatoula 25-23, 25-25, 26-24 in a road match Tuesday.

Catie Bennett posted six kills and two blocks, while Katie Wallace tallied five kills and two blocks. Taylor Peterson recorded 11 digs and Carly Jordan dished out six assists.

Shelby Walker served three aces and Miranda Craddock contributed two blocks.
