Richardson has covered local high school, college and professional sports throughout St. Tammany Parish since 1999.

He and Pervel will also host a Thursday night pre-game radio show at the Mellow Mushroom in Covington from 6:30-8 p.m.

Richardson said he’s anxious to get the season underway.

“I’m excited because we have a lot of talent in St Tammany Parish. The players seem to get bigger, stronger and faster each year. I think the St. Tammany Parish coaches are as strong as they have ever been,” Richardson said.

“I look forward to seeing everybody out cheering for their favorite players and teams. The food at the Mellow Mushroom is excellent and it provides a good atmosphere for sports fans. We invite any sports fan to come out on Thursday nights. We’ll have an open mike to take fans questions and comments,” Richardson added.

The first airing of The Lake 94.7 radio show is scheduled for tomorrow night. The guests are Archbishop Hannan third-year coach George Templet and Northlake Christian School first-year head coach and athletic director Tony Agresta. The coaches will also have players in attendance to give their thoughts on the season.

Hannan and NCS kick off the season Friday at 7 p.m. at William Pitcher Stadium.
