Mandeville’s Skippers set an early tone kicking a field goal on it’s initial drive and went on to defeat the Holy Cross Tigers 22-7 in the first game of the Covington Jamboree Friday night at Jack Salter Stadium.

Auburn freshman keeper named SEC Freshman of the Week
It didn’t take long for Auburn freshman goalkeeper Amy Howard, a 2009 Mandeville High graduate, to make her mark on the Tigers’ club being named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week following the team’s season opening match at Samford Aug. 23. The teams battled to a double-overtime, scoreless match.

Lakeshore falls to Franklinton JV 6-0
The Lakeshore Titans came up short Friday night falling to the Franklinton Demons JV squad 6-0 in the Franklinton Jamboree as junior Chris Briggs scored on a two-yard keeper with about six minutes to play. The teams played two 12-minute halves to open up the Franklinton Jamboree.

Northshore and Salmen meet up tonight at NHS in the third annual Spanther Bowl, which started following Hurricane Katrina. Kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Northshore has won both meetings, 24-6 in 2006 and 14-6 in 2007. Last season’s match up was cancelled due to Hurricane Gustav.
