Louisiana Knights 17/18s finish 1-2-1 in Baton Rouge Tourney

The Louisiana Knights 17/18s participated in the Baton Rouge White Sox Tournament July 10-12 finishing with a 1-2-1 record.

The Knights 17/18s (13-21-1) dropped its first game 11-0 last Friday, being blanked by the Louisiana Legends 18s 11-0. The Knights were limited to just three hits.

Robert Boudreaux, Logan Peterson and Elisha Settoon collected singles. Knights’ starter Randal Meyer (2-2) went two innings and was tagged with the loss. Reliever Keller Douglas went two innings and Christopher Riess threw one inning.

The host Baton Rouge White Sox defeated the Knights 17/18s 10-5 Saturday. Meyer went 1-2 with a walk and scored a run. Hunter Ham, Brady King, Seth Laigast and Michael Paul each had singles and scored a run. Starter Randy LeBlanc took the loss. He went three and a third innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits. He struck out six and walked two. Cody Warford finished up in relief. He allowed three earned runs on three hits.

The Knights 17/18s entered the win column in Saturday’s second game, downing the La. Warriors 8-2 with Michael Pustanio driving in four runs and Peterson contributed a solo homer. Trey Marino went 2-3 with a walk and scored a run.

Warford had a hit with an RBI, while Douglas and Meyer collected hits. Starter Justin Vaughn (2-0) picked up the victory, throwing five innings. He gave up two earned runs on four hits. Marino pitched two innings of hitless relief with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Knights 17/18s closed out the tourney Sunday, settling for a 7-7 tie with the Louisiana Legends 18s with the game being called due to time limit. Paul had an outstanding game at the plate, going 2-3 with a double and triple, knocking in four runs.

King went 2-3, scored twice and drove home a run.

Boudreaux and Douglas chipped in with hits and each drove in a run. Pustanio walked three times and tallied two runs for the Knights. Jacob Tripani contributed a hit and scored once.

Ham started for the Knights and went four innings. He gave up four earned runs on four hits. Boudreaux and Marino came on in relief. The Knights 17/18s are on the road this week, competing in the Premier World Series being held in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
