" I had a dog named Rock and he was a black dog. I also had a little puppy that was three different colors. I never not one time chose to feed or walk one over the other bcause of what color they were. I miss rock but he wasnt a good dog for me at the time. I gave him to someone I knew that knew of a guy who had a kid and wanted a dog. "

" R. Side, this is not the first of these events to be held. We already know "what this is all about."

It's all about claiming that it's secession-worthy for a black president to do things that a white president is applauded for.

An event orchestrated by a network and political party that repeatedly use racism to market themselves. And supported by groups like Stormfront that are out and out racist...and helped along by denialists who want to pretend that no one who smears Obama does so for racial reasons. "

It's interesting how tea baggers can insult me, they can condescend to me, but not one of them can answer my question:

If this isn't about race, why did the teabaggers in two days go from believing that "deficits don't matter" to deficits being a cause to secede?

Why weren't they teabagging in the streets when Bush turned the biggest surplus in history into the biggest deficit in history? "

" Horsefly you made a good point, I appologize to Kestrella about the drinking remarks.
This is my last comment on this issue. Kestrella you may be correct in stating that running the deficit up while a Republican was in office did not offend the Tea Party participants as much as it does now that a democrat is in the office.
I honestly do not believe it has anything to do with race, but it may have a lot to do with political party affiliation.
Lets all turn out for the Party and see what it is really all about. "

" Mr or Mrs R.Side your condesending comments regarding Kestrellas drinking habits is slightly demeaning. This is an interesting debate, and Kestreela has strong feelings about this issue. It is apparent to me that he or she has been the victim of either racism, or descrimination, and we should all be sensitive to his or her issues.
While I don't agree with Kestrellas point of view, I respect his or her opinions, and appreciate him or her taking the time to engage on this issue. "

" R. Side, one further clarification. I too support the right of the tea baggers to hold their racist event and spout their racist opinions.

This is not a rights issue. The First Amendment gives non-racists just as much right to criticize the teabaggers as the tea-baggers have to criticize non-racists. "

kestrella wrote on Jul 1, 2009 6:06 PM:

" R. Side - my take on this situation has nothing to do with personal experience of discrimination.

It's the racists who are keeping racism alive, not those who criticize racism.

The right wing CELEBRATED when Bush turned the largest surplus in history into the largest deficit in history, and followed up with record-breaking deficit after deficit.

Up till Jan 19, the right insisted that "deficits don't matter." On Jan 21, the right began insisting that deficits were "generational theft" and reason to secede. What changed? The skin color of the person in the White House. "

Name calling, questioning peoples ability to read, patriotism, racism, hostilities this subject has got it all, well there have been no car chases yet. I think we should all go to the meeting in Madeville and see what all the stir is really about. "

" Kestrella a slight reduction in the number of sugary drinks, or cutting down on the caffeine may help. I would also recommend only watching CNN, and have the FOX news channel blocked from your tv. I believe your position is one that will never allow this country to put racism behind us. I am sorry if you feel you have personnally have been the victim of discrimination or racist actions. I support our president, and strongly support the right of our citizens to voice thier concerns as they see fit, its the American way. "

    " To CHASS-

So our corporate tax rate is high- no kidding- thats why you "patriotic" conservatives dont bat an eye when corporations move to central america, set up shop, create poorer quality goods for a better price.

And our income tax is much lower than most of the world- and Obama's planned tax increase on the wealthy would restore their tax rate to the days of Clinton and *gasp* Reagan! Get a clue. "

kestrella wrote on Jun 30, 2009 5:55 PM:

" RSide, are you really claiming that I said "we can't disagree with our president because he is black"?

You can't possibly read that poorly.

Pointing out that some people DO disagree with Obama because he is black--and even threaten or KILL innocent people over Obama's blackness--is nowhere close to what you said. I disagree with Obama on some issues myself.

But there's a huge difference between disagreeing with a person who happens to be black and changing one's whole opinion on whether deficits matter, based on the skin color of the White House occupants. "

kestrella wrote on Jun 30, 2009 5:50 PM:

" Horsefly - why would anyone who isn't racist go to an event orchestrated by Fox News -- whose pundit wisheds state on air that Obama's assassination would make her "happy." ?

Do you really think such a remark wasn't motivated by race?

Do you really believe the people who were pleased as punch to run up 5 trillion in national debt in 8 years (while raiding the Social Security trust fund repeatedly) are protesting now because they suddenly had an epiphany?

Of course not. When it was a white president, they said, "Deficits don't matter." "

Horsefly wrote on Jun 30, 2009 1:55 PM:

" Kestrella we disagree on this issue. I am a conservative, I vote conservative, but voted for President Obama, not because of the color of his skin. I do agree with Rush on a lot of topics, but no all. I, as most people have the ability to think for themselves. I am sure you do not agree with everything Rev Wright preaches, but their are probably some areas you do agree on, so lets not put other peoples words in peoples mouths we don't even know. Lets agree to disagree with out name calling, and hate mongering. "

    R.SIDE wrote on Jun 30, 2009 8:55 AM:

" Kestrella, I suppose Rev Wright speaks for you as well. If we follow your logic, then we can't disagree with our president because he is black. That my friend is racist, and minimizes the fact that it took all races of Americans to elect President Obama. Americans have shed thier blood on foreigh soil, fathers, sons, mothers and daughters have never returned home inorder for Americans to have the right to support thier beliefs. Its too bad close minded people like you have such little faith in America, which by the way, is the greatest country on earth. "

" Kestrella, you are so blinded by YOUR racism, that your reponses are totally off target. Show us once where "horsefly" said there "is no racism on the right". Copied & pated right from horsefly's post - "To suggest that individuals don't agree with our current president because he is black is wrong. President Obama was elected by this country, not because he was black, but because he was the best qualified candidate."

    Get a life kestrella!! "

kestrella wrote on Jun 29, 2009 7:25 PM:

" Horsefly - how can you say there's no racism on the right? Rush Limbaugh refers to Obama as "the Halfrican." Fox News called his wife "a baby mama" although the OTHER first lady candidate was the home wrecker. A prominent right wing preacher from a denomination with a history of segregationist preaching refers to Obama as "an illegal alien" because he cannot accept that black people are real Americans.

White supremacists have commited mayhem over Obama's presidency. Do not rob their victims of their dignity by making up sugar-coated fantasies about why they were killed. "

kestrella wrote on Jun 29, 2009 7:19 PM:

" Horsefly -- the people who elected Barack Obama because he was the best candidate aren't the people out tea bagging. They aren't the people saying that their world is coming apart because we don't have a Republican president. They aren't the people who were pleased as punch with 5 trillion in deficit and nothing to show for it when a white man was in office.

Right wing terrorists have murdered 4 policemen, 1 security guard, 3 churchgoers over their hatred for having a black man in office.

To pretend that racism doesn't still exist is misguided. "

" Kestrella, the patriot act saved lives, and while no everyone agreed that it was the right thing to do it paid off in the long run. To suggest that individuals don't agree with our current president because he is black is wrong. President Obama was elected by this country, not because he was black, but because he was the best qualified candidate. No candidate is going to go through office without some resistance. The sooner people quit blaming all difference on race the better off this country will be. Our president was elected by black and white Americans. "

The U.S. has the second highest corporate tax rate of all (OECD) industrialized nations and we are only .25% behind Japan whose economy has been stagnating even before the current recession.

It is wise to be informed, not just opinionated. Consider that MSNBC and Comedy Channel news might not always be accurate and do a little of your own fact checking. "

You want to know where in the Constitution it says that the President can sign bills, appoint advisors, etc? It's all in there.

The fact that you don't seem to be able to name one specific thing that Obama has done that you think is unconstitutional is rather telling. "

But elect a black man to the White House and they think the world is coming to an end. "

Show me where in the the constitution (you do remember the constitution don't you)any president is granted powers to do the things that Obama has done. I agree he is the president, but that does not give him a free pass. Being an energy producing state every person in LA should oppose the "cap and trade" bill. Call the senators and demand a NO vote!
