The suspects, both teenagers, were finally caught on foot after they abandoned a stolen blue Mercedes Benz when the 130-mph car chase skidded to a halt northbound on Interstate 10 near Slidell. Three pursuing New Orleans Police Department officers were injured, two with concussions, one with fractured ribs and a third treated and released for back injuries, Bob Young, New Orleans Police Department spokesman said.
One suspect, a 15-year-old boy from Slidell, was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Juvenile Detention Facility because he is a minor. Eric Loydrake, 16, of 2125 Cambronne St. New Orleans was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail in Covington, where he turned 17 this week.

The suspects, spotted on the corner Gen. Taylor Street and South Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans, were ordered to stop by police, Young said. They didn’t and instead sped off toward Interstate 10 and onto the Twin Spans toward Slidell.
Trailing not far behind, New Orleans Police Department officials radioed ahead to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies warning a high speed chase in excess of 130 mph speeds was approaching.
About a dozen or so St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies stationed themselves at the entrance of I-12 from I-10, where they deployed a spike strip used to puncture tires of rogue drivers.
It worked.
The Mercedes tires blew out and forced the sedan out of control. It first plowed into a highway sign indicating an upcoming exit before smashing into the I-10 guardrail, Sheriff’s Office Capt. George Bonnett said.
The three injured officers also hit the sign, causing the injuries, Young said.
Stuck in a stalled and smoking car, the suspects then fled on foot, chased by Sheriff’s Deputies and officers from NOPD. Within minutes, both suspects were captured, Bonnett said.
Each were charged with four felony counts, including possession of stolen property, aggravated flight from an officers, unauthorized use of a moving vehicle and armed robbery, Young said. Additional charges are likely once the investigation of the armed robberies is completed, Young said.
