Torregano returned to his girlfriend’s house on Jan. 10, and they got into another argument.
Again, Torregano began beating the victim with his fists.
Then he pulled out a knife and raped her, O’Neil said, and left the house.
The victim went to her sister’s house and reported what happened. The victim’s sister immediately took her to the hospital for treatment, and the victim told her story to police.
Two warrants for aggravated rape and second-degree battery were obtained for Torregano’s arrest on Jan. 11.
A day later, O’Neil said Torregano called police headquarters and asked if there were any warrants out on him. O’Neil didn’t know what the police response was, but detectives found out Torregano was at his old residence on Iroquois Street. When they got to the house, they saw Torregano pulling out of the driveway in his truck. Police pulled the truck over, and Torregano was arrested without incident. While searching Torregano, police found a crack cocaine pipe with crack cocaine residue in it.
Torregano was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, second-degree battery, possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Torregano was booked and transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
