A Slidell man died Saturday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 433 near Slidell, State Police said.

Richard E. Ladner Jr., 41, was ejected from his 2006 Ford pickup truck when it hit a ditch and flipped near Kimberly Lane off La. 433 two miles west of U.S. Highway 11, Trooper Louis Calato, State Police spokesman, said.

Ladner was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Calato said. Ladner is the 24th St. Tammany resident to die this year, 18 who, or more than 75 percent, were not wearing a seatbelt.

The 12:43 a.m. accident occurred after Ladner drove around a curve and the truck’s right side tires exited the roadway and onto the shoulder. Ladner swerved left but overcorrected and spun counter clockwise and into a ditch. He then hit a tree stump and flipped the truck, which landed on its roof.

Alcohol or drug involvement is unknown. Toxicology tests are pending.
