Thanks, Tish Tefft, who informs me that “Top o’ the mornin’” is makin’ the rounds in California. Tish lives in Morro Bay, Calif., and received a copy of my column, which included the obituary for Common Sense. She got it from her father-in-law who lives in Covington, but she didn’t pass along his name.
Anyway, Tish dropped me a card and said she made 15 copies of it and sent it to friends.

A friend always makes a special effort to spend time with his family on the weekends. Every Sunday morning he takes his 7-year-old granddaughter to church and for a drive.
One particular Sunday, he had a bad cold and really didn’t feel up to it. His wife came to the rescue and said that she would take their granddaughter out. When they returned, the little girl ran upstairs to see her grandfather.
“Well, did you enjoy your ride with Grandma?”
“Oh yes, Grandpa,” the girl replied. “And do you know what? We didn’t see a single Idiot or Jerk the whole ride home!”
Thanks, Bill McLoughlin, for your help after Hurricane Gustav.
We had a tree that took a pretty good hit at the St. Tammany News Covington office and Bill graciously trimmed it up for us.
Thanks also to those who assisted Bill: Billy McLoughlin, Warren Farrell and Stephen Desposito.
We appreciate y’all.
May those who love us love us,
And those who do not love us,
May God turn their hearts,
And if He cannot turn their hearts
May He turn their ankles
That we may know them by their limping.
