St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested two more people near Slidell this week for looting several homes in the North Forest subdivision.

Dwayne Walker, 26, 203 Bishop’s Dr. and his girlfriend Amy Alexander, 22, same address, were arrested after an investigation was launched Sept. 2 when returning Hurricane Gustav evacuees found their homes burglarized, Sheriff’s Office Capt. George Bonnett said. One victim spotted what he believed was some of his property in a neighbor’s backyard.

When deputies went to that home at 203 Bishops Drive, Amy Alexander gave consent to search the property.

Several items inside the home including televisions, firearms, video games, tools and cookware could not be accounted for, Bonnett said. She said Walker was not home

“She indicated that Walker brought them there,” Bonnett said.

Those items, along with others Walker had been hiding away in a nearby vacant home, were seized. The stolen property also included, jewelry, food and copper wire torn from the walls of the vacant home in an apparent attempt to sell it. Deputies returned to the home this week to arrest Alexander. Once in custody, she claimed no knowledge of Walker’s whereabouts.

Deputies later found him at the Bishop’s Drive address as well and arrested him.

Walker was booked with three counts of looting, one count of simple burglary and one count of simple criminal damage to property.

Alexander was arrested and booked with three counts of looting. They are both being held in the St. Tammany Parish Jail, in lieu of a $315,000 bond for Walker, $300,000 for Alexander.

Any resident in the area of North Forest subdivision who believes their home was burglarized during hurricane Gustav should contact Det. Dwight Evans at 645-2469.
