St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis has announced that he will open two shelters Sunday at 2 p.m.

• Creekside Jr. High, 65434 Highway 41, Pearl River

• William Pitcher Jr. High, 415 S. Jefferson St., Covington

Citizens living in travel trailers and mobile homes should evacuate to these shelters. Tropical storm force winds are expected in St. Tammany Parish beginning Monday. Trailers and mobile homes will not be safe during tropical storm force winds, Davis said.

Citizens should bring all personal items they might need to the shelter, including bedding.

The St. Tammany Special Needs Shelter at Covington High School will open Sunday at 4 p.m.  There is no reason to pre-register for the special needs shelter at this time. St. Tammany residents who have special needs and cannot evacuate due to health issues should monitor the news, radio  and Web site for special needs shelter opening announcement. Those needing transportation to the special needs shelter should call COAST at 327-0185.

The State of Louisiana Special Needs Shelter in Hammond is now open. The phone number there is 985-549-5870.

A shelter for nursing home residents will be opening Sunday at 4 p.m., Davis said.
