During its quarterly evening meeting recently, Slidell City Court Judge James “Jim” Lamz spoke with members of the Slidell Business and Professional Women about the role of Slidell City Court in the community.

Included in the presentation were current statistics showing trends on the types of cases seen in the court, especially noteworthy changes in case load in the post-Katrina years.

Lamz spoke about the critical role that court appointed special advocates plays, being advocates of children in cases of child abuse or neglect, giving judges unbiased information that helps them decide what is in the best interest of the child.

“There were many questions about the court system as well as CASA. You could tell that CASA is very close to his heart,” said Slidell BPW President Kaki DiCarlo.

Slidell BPW was chartered in 1976 and has become an award winning organization dedicated to providing growth and enrichment to its members. Slidell BPW is a member of the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce.
