Show me a man with both feet firmly on the ground, and I’ll show you a man who can’t get his pants off.

You’re invited to an opening reception showcasing the artwork of Ed Balcourt tomorrow afternoon at the Slidell Art League. It takes place from 1-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The SAL Gallery & Gift Shop is located upstairs in the Slidell Train Depot at 1827 Front St.

An oldie but goodie: How do you catch a unique rabbit? Unique up on it.

How do you catch a tame rabbit? Tame way.

Don’t forget to take your children to the Kids Festival tomorrow at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. The free health and wellness fair will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, and offer free immunizations to children and students 18 years old and under. (Be sure to bring their shot records.) Free hearing and vision screenings will also be available.

In addition kids will learn about health and safety through hands-on activities and demonstrations, such as bicycle safety, the fire evacuation house from St. Tammany Fire Department District #4, and backpack safety by the Lakeview Rehab Department. Parents will have the opportunity to visit with the Lakeview dieticians to discuss healthy snacks and school lunches, and learn about car seat safety from Louisiana State Police Troop L.

And there’s more: Crafts, inflatable games, a petting zoo, an obstacle course, and complimentary refreshments. Each child will receive a LRMC gym bag. And at 11 a.m., there’ll be a special appearance by Hugo and the Honeybees from your New Orleans Hornets. Door prizes will be awarded, including an autographed jersey from the Hornets, and other cool kid’s stuff.

Again, the festival is free, however families are asked to bring one of the following school supplies to be donated to the Mandeville and Covington Head Start Centers: 24-pack of crayons, large package of construction paper, seven-ounce bottle of school glue or three-pack of glue sticks; or a package of eight washable markers.
