Knights 17s go 1-2 in Mississippi

The Louisiana Knights 17s went 1-2 in a round robin tournament held over the weekend at Perry Central in New Augusta, Miss., located about 30 miles from Hattiesburg.

The Knights lost the first game July 4 to the All-Star Giants, 8-3. Ross Weathers hit a solo home run. Colt Bruhl and Wes Luquette each had a hit and a run batted in.

Wes Rea accounted for the other Louisiana hit.

Blaise Allen (3-3) suffered the loss. He threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs on 11 hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. The Knights 17s rebounded Saturday to knock off the All-Star Indians, 7-3.

Rea and Trey Marino both singled and drove in two runs, while James Abraham, who is hitting .404, tripled and scored twice.

Daniel Brockhoeft had a hit and a run batted in.

Winning pitcher Logan Peterson (5-0, 2.12 ERA) gave up three earned runs on three hits. He finished with six strikeouts and four walks. Addison Melancon relieved Peterson and allowed one hit in two innings of work.

The Knights’ final game was an 18-10 loss to Bill Hood Baseball.

Bruhl homered and drove in four runs while adding a pair of singles and a double.

Abraham singled, tripled, walked twice and scored four runs. Chad Gough-Fortenberry and Elisha Settoon both finished 2-for-4.

Rea (2-1) was tagged with the loss. The Knights committed five errors.

The Knights 17s are 18-11 this season.
