Slidell graduate Shad de St. Germain made the District 7-5A first-team for the Tigers. He led off and played mostly center field and got some innings on the mound for Slidell. In district, de St. Germain batted .409 with 13 RBIs and stole 12 bases. This summer, he is playing American Legion for Thomas Pump and batting second, helping provide a speedy one-two punch at the top of the order with Nathan Reis.

Slidell assistant coach Scott Schwaner, who coaches the American Legion team, said de St. Germain is good at what he does.

“Shad is a very unique player that has his own successful way of playing,” Schwaner said. “He’s a pleasure to coach because of his love of the game. He only knows one speed. You never have to worry about the kid being prepared. He’s been a great addition to our program since he moved out here (from Chalmette).”

Schwaner added that de St. Germain is a versatile player when it comes to writing out the batting order.

“You can put him anywhere in the lineup and he never complains,” Schwaner said.
