Lacombe man dies in one-vehicle crash

Nicholas R. Gerard, 29, Lacombe, was killed at 11:49 a.m. Wednesday when he apparently lost control of his 1976 Jeep driving westbound on Louisiana Highway 36.

Gerard was apparently ejected from the vehicle as it began flipping over after he tried to regain control of the vehicle and overcorrected, according to Louisiana State Police Troop L spokesman, Louis Calato. Gerard was not wearing his seat belt Calato said.

Gerard was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash.
