FBI looking for Billy-Goat Bandit

The FBI is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the “Billy-Goat Bandit,” accused of robbing at least three Louisiana banks, including Central Progressive Bank in Slidell.

The robber is described as an unkempt white male with a goatee, approximately 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 140 pounds. Bank surveillance video has captured him on more than one occasion wearing a blue baseball hat with yellow writing.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and Indictment of the robber. Call the FBI’s New Orleans office at 504-816-3000, the FBI’s Fort Walton Beach Office at 850-609-0106 or the FBI’s Jackson Office at 601-948-5000.

The FBI suspects the bandit to have robbed the following banks:

• People’s Bank, 2609 Mississippi Highway 59, Gautier, on March 7.

• Central Progressive Bank, 551 Gause Blvd., Slidell, on March 12. The robber is believed to have fled the area in a full size white pickup truck.

• Beach Community Bank, 412 NW Mary Easter Blvd., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on May 9.

FBI agents believe he may be responsible for one more bank robbery in the Gulf Coast region.
