The St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation wants to help local businesses navigate state incentives and expand their commercial properties. But it’s up to overlooked CEOs and managers to let the foundation know they operate in St. Tammany.

“In the last few years, so many businesses have moved to St. Tammany Parish, expanded operations here, or brought corporate headquarters to our community that many have escaped (our) notice,” said Brenda Reine-Bertus, executive director of STEDF. “We serve as a constant referral service for visiting business leaders and those interested in expanding operations. It will be beneficial for everyone for us to update our database of local business contacts.”

Companies that have moved to St. Tammany since 2005 are asked to contact the STEDF with basic information such as the number of people employed, type of business conducted and general needs.

Once on the Foundation’s directory, businesses are offered free help such as inclusion in business assistance forums, financial counseling, free press releases and access to a commercial database that lists properties available for corporate development.

“So many companies – both large and small – don’t realize the breadth of services we can provide at no cost,” Reine-Bertus said. “And while many came here without our involvement, they might still benefit from the services and referrals we offer. Whether they have eight employees or 800 – or more – STEDF can be a valuable resource.”

STEDF provides assistance in accessing state incentive programs, many of which save millions of dollars for businesses through tax credits, rebates and other cost-saving measures. In addition, STEDF provides business counseling through the Small Business Development Center and holds at least four Business Assistance Forums each year, tailored to industries in various economic sectors.

Any company not already in contact with the STEDF is asked to contact the organization at info@stedf.org, or call 809-7874.

Information will remain confidential to the extent requested by local businesses, and the list will never be sold.

All EDF services are offered at no cost to the user.
