Learn to speak, cook and study the Italian culture at the recently opened Italian Gourmet and Cultural Society on 227 Lee Lane Suite B in Covington.

The society is the brainchild of Paolo “Paul” Cimino, a designated ambassador of Italian culture who has lived in Covington for several years.

Cimino teaches several languages, including Spanish for Delgado Community College. Due to overcrowding at the Northshore Delgado sites, he holds classes at his new facility.

Delgado Spanish students meeting in the Italian Cultural Society'€™s home include: Dorothy Ralph, Lester Ralph, Peggy Boyd, Stan Boyd, Paul Cimino (teacher), Patty Carbajal, Robert Michel, Annie Lovelace and Dennis Keehn. It was the final class meeting for the students. (Staff Photo by Debbie Glover)

He also teaches Italian culinary and gourmet skills, including cooking and wines. Other opportunities he offers for members of the society include gourmet dinners of the finest cuisine, food and wine tours of Italy, member discounts to selected restaurants and merchants, special conducted tours to Italy and Sicily and Italian film showings. Cimino also offers Italian language classes.

He said that native Italians who are expertly experienced in their fields offer all activities.
