Madisonville resident Kelly McCarthy Rabalais, a lawyer with a private firm since 1999 whose past experience brought her to litigation tables representing other parish governments, was hired as St. Tammany Parish’s top legal advisor, officials announced recently.

Rabalais served at the firm of LeBlanc Butler representing corporate, commercial and municipal clients, and this “prepared her well for the wide variety of issues which can possibly arise when dealing with parish government,” Parish President Kevin Davis said in a news release.

“Kelly comes to us with a great deal of litigation experience,” said Davis. “She has a wide variety of knowledge and has represented municipal clients before, which will benefit St. Tammany quite a bit.”

Rabalais lives in Madisonville with her husband and two children. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University before earning her law degree from the Paul M. Hebert School of Law at Louisiana State University.

“I am very pleased to be working with Kevin and with St. Tammany Parish,” Rabalais said. “I live here, so I know what a wonderful place it is. I am honored to be representing St. Tammany Parish.”
