With only a few traffic signals to call its own, the city of Mandeville will be hanging on to one more.

The traffic light at the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard and Girod Street will be staying thanks to a study done by a traffic engineering agency that deemed the signal’s existence imperative.

The study came after it was noticed the existing light needed to be repaired.

To avoid the high costs of replacing the light, the City Council suggested it be removed and a four-way stop replace it.

The assessment of the area proved the light necessary.

In other business before the City Council:

• The trailhead renovation completion deadline has been extended 10 more days. The council approved a change order that will add $5,745 and will involve added work to the audio/visual system.

• The council tabled a resolution that supports the proposed improvements to the North Causeway service roads.

The resolution is to show support for a study to be conducted by the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission before repairs can begin on the service roads, but the council tabled the item to investigate the full intent of the GNOEC.

• The U.S. Highway 190 construction completion date was extended to August due to unforeseen delays.

• The Lakefront Pavilion is nearly complete, and officials expect the structure to be finished before the estimated completion date in July.
