Disney film wraps up in Abita Springs

Movie giant Disney recently wrapped up filming in small town Abita Springs.

The 2,000-person town hosted the filming of what could be the newest hit on Disney’s TV station Jetix.

The filming of “Sunday Sunday Sunday” began several weeks ago and concentrated in and around the artesian well community, sometimes halting traffic on Level Street while crews constructed scenes. The pinnacle of the project occurred at Lacombe’s A-1 Raceway, where an actual monster-truck race took place and volunteers were invited to attend for free.

The TV pilot is about a teenage city boy who is forced to live with his country cousin. The two have a tough time adjusting to the change until they discover their shared passion for monster-truck racing. Actors in the film include Andrew Caldwell, Noah Munck, E.E. Bell, Nicole Gale Anderson, Josh Heine and Reid Ewing.

Casting Director Pepper Morgan said if the pilot is a success, Louisiana, and possibly St. Tammany Parish, would become major shooting locations for the series, which Senior Vice President of Original Programming for Disney Jetix Adam Bonnett said won’t be a problem.

“We’re loving the experience of shooting in Louisiana,” he said. “There’s just great people here and talented film makers that live and work here.”

Officials for Disney said the show has several more production steps before making its way into your living room.

Morgan said this concludes filming in St. Tammany for the time being, but she expects many more projects to initiate in the near future.
