STPH Foundation using donation for special chairs in infusion suite

Published on Friday, March 28, 2008 11:04 AM CDT

The St. Tammany Hospital Foundation recently accepted a $17,500 donation from the St. Tammany Memorial Cancer Fund for the purchase of heated, reclining massage chairs featuring music players to be used by patients visiting the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Infusion Suite.

The Infusion Suite provides outpatient intravenous services such as chemotherapy, blood therapy, antibiotics and injections. The suite is more convenient for patients who visit STPH for a few hours of intravenous treatment and are not admitted for inpatient treatment.

The massage chairs provide a more sensitive, therapeutic experience by using massage rollers to glide along the length of the back and calibrate the massage to the patient’s unique body. The patients can choose one of three soothing full-body programs for complete rejuvenation, or select one of six targeted programs to sooth a specific spot on the body. The chairs also utilize 12 airbags that inflate and deflate around the calves, thighs, seat and hips.
