The Slidell Police Department and the FBI are looking for a person who robbed the Gause Boulevard branch of the Central Progressive Bank Wednesday morning.

According to police and the FBI, a white male entered the bank around 10:30 a.m., told a bank teller that he had a weapon and demanded money.

The robber then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen going east on Gause in a white full-size pickup truck.

The robber is described as 5-foot-6 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds with a think build. Witnesses said the suspect was between 40 and 50 years old with salt and pepper hair and a goatee. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing sunglasses, a blue zipper jacket with green lining and a blue baseball cap with unknown yellow writing.

Authorities say there is a possibility the same man was responsible for the Feb. 22 robbery of the St. Tammany Homestead Bank, also on Gause Boulevard.

The Slidell police and the FBI ask anyone with any information on either robberies to call the FBI at (504) 816-3000 or the Slidell police at 643-3131. The Metropolitan Bank Security Association is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
