Construction of Folsom's new Web site is under way and nearly complete.
With hopes of making information about the village more accessible, Aldermen Charles Wilt has spearheaded the project to eradicate the existing site containing a jumbled mess for a URL with outdated information.

After the notion was introduced at a Board of Aldermen meeting several months ago, the board unanimously voted to proceed with the idea in early February.
Since then, Wilt managed to secure an official address, www.villageoffolsom.com, and subscribe to four years' worth of Web hosting for $240. Wilt said this will ultimately save the village a substantial amount of money.
"We were paying $300 per quarter for hosting before with the old Web site," he said.
He also said the next phase of the project is building the page which local resident Ron Barthet has volunteered his time to do, but arrangements had yet to be made with him.
The new site will include updated information, historical data about Folsom, upcoming events, meeting minutes and a variety of other features.
"We'll be teaching the secretaries how to upload things onto it which will be faster than the older way, which required them to type everything by hand," Wilt said.
Wilt also suggested a L.E.D. sign be purchased and placed at the corner of Louisiana highways 25 and 40 to provide residents with additional information concerning upcoming events, particularly scheduled village meetings.
Wilt said that project is on the radar but on hold while he waits for a used marquee to become available.
