A Covington man who sold cocaine to undercover Sheriff's Office deputies pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to five years in prison, District Attorney Walter Reed spokesman Rick Wood said.

State judge Donald Fendlason suspended 10 years of the 15-year sentence in exchange for the guilty plea on three counts of cocaine possession with intent to distribute by Matthew Jones, 24.

The guilty plea comes slightly more than a month after Jones pleaded guilty Jan. 8 in a separate case for possession of cocaine and marijuana. State Judge Raymond Childress sentenced Jones to five years in prison in that case, Wood said.

The two sentences will run concurrent, Wood said.
